Dear parents, families, students and community partners,

This week we are celebrating our seniors as they decide on which colleges and universities they are committing to! We congratulate all the seniors across Los Angeles for their commitment, hard work and determination to get to this point. Where will our seniors decide to go? Tune into our social media in the next few weeks to see where Board District 2 seniors are going!

Friday, May 1st, is also International Workers' Day. We honor and thank the workers that have come before us and the essential workers who are on the frontlines today as we get through this crisis together: healthcare workers, first responders, teachers, school district staff, food industry workers and more. From the workers of the labor movements of the past to the cafeteria workers helping to feed our families daily at our Food Centers, they are our grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles, sisters and brothers, comadres and compadres, and daughters and sons. We are inspired by their courage then and now.

In the spirit of hope,
Mónica
