CDN Update

There is a good deal of exciting news to update you on this month.

Firstly, congratulations to all the winners at the CDN College Awards ceremony, which took place on Thursday 23 November at Hilton Glasgow. The Awards provide a key platform for crafting a collective narrative that promotes the outstanding work taking place in colleges every day. It was a great night in Glasgow, and our biggest awards celebration in years.

Secondly, we are delighted to have secured new premises for CDN at Airthrey Castle, on the campus of the University of Stirling. This wonderful building offers significant new opportunities to CDN, and we look forward to making it our new home and welcoming you from January.

The review of the Professional Standards for Lecturers in Scotland's Colleges is now underway and we'd like to invite all teaching staff from across the sector to get involved. You can find out how below.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you wish to discuss any aspect of our work:

Your Profession - Your Standards - Your Voice
Work is now underway to review the existing Professional Standards for Lecturers in Scotland's Colleges, and to deliver a modernised set of workforce development standards for the national college sector.
Scottish Moodle Users Group
The Scottish Moodle Users Group (SMUG) brings together those with an interest in the Moodle learning platform. Featuring a series of short presentations from members, time will be set aside to discuss any other matters of general interest. Membership of SMUG is open to anyone with an interest in the platform, and currently includes members from further and higher education, other public sector organisations, private training providers and independents.
Save £1,000s with a CLA-free future
The Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) licence provides blanket permissions to copy and reuse content from print and digital publications of authors and publishers who have registered with them. The annual fee for the licence can run into the tens of thousands (depending on the size of the college). This event explores how colleges could take an alternative approach, potentially saving them thousands of pounds.
Work Sm@rt
CDN is working with Priority Management to provide a special opportunity for colleges to benefit from the Working Sm@rt™ programme, which offers a method of improving working and workload management. A workshop will run on Tuesday 20 February 2018.
