The Stark Education Partnership became a part of the AmeriCorps College Guides program eleven years ago. AmeriCorps connects over 70,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet community needs in education, the environment, public safety, health, and homeland security. The AmeriCorps Ohio College Guides program places recent college graduates into schools as near-peers to help students prepare for a successful future beyond high school.
The Stark Education Partnership is the host site for three college guides. These guides began their service on August 1st under the supervision of Jay Moody, Innovative Projects Strategist. "Our guides have been forming a close bond, and we are thrilled with the services they provide," said Moody. The Guides work with school counselors and teachers to support students in matching their skills and interests to successful and satisfying career pathways. They help students identify an area of interest; explore educational options; support the application and financial aid processes, and complete the commitment process.
