February 2024 Newsletter

Since 2011, volunteer mentors with College Now’s Mentoring Program have provided one-on-one support to get students who are in college or working toward a professional credential to finish their program of study. This leads to rewarding and impactful careers.

With nearly 4,500 college students matched throughout the program’s history, we rely on the commitment of volunteer mentors like you. All it takes is your college degree, commitment to a student's college journey and the ability to connect online. Your willingness to pay it forward is the key to creating a lasting impact!

Federal Student Loan Updates

Recent announcements from the Biden-Harris Administration introduce relief measures such as the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) plan, offering forgiveness after 10 years of payments for borrowers with $12,000 or less in undergraduate loans.

Plus, progress on the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) front means borrowers can consolidate loans until April 1, 2024, potentially qualifying for forgiveness. Read more about the most recent updates and learn how College Now can help you navigate these changes.

Bags & Bourbon: October 24, 2024

We’re excited to announce the return of College Now Greater Cleveland’s Bags & Bourbon on Thursday, October 24, 2024, starting at 4:30 p.m.

Please join us at our new venue, Playhouse Square's KeyBank State Theatre, for a wonderful evening of cocktails, shopping for new and gently used designer handbags, tasting and bidding on our large selection of bourbon and more!

This unique and fun philanthropic event raises much needed dollars for our game-changing mentoring program, supporting our scholarship recipients who are pursuing their postsecondary degrees. Since 2013, Bags & Bourbon (formerly the Bag Lady Event), has raised over $1.8 million to help get college students across the finish line to degree completion.

This year’s Bags & Bourbon will include a special recognition of Lee Friedman, College Now’s CEO for the last 14 years. In her honor, we’ve established The Lee Friedman Student Emergency Fund. This fund will provide just-in-time, direct grants to our scholarship recipients who experience unexpected financial emergencies that could impede their ability to remain in school and complete their degree program. We welcome your donations in honor of Lee and her remarkable impact.

College Now is so grateful to presenting sponsor KeyBank and to all our diamond, platinum, gold, silver and bronze sponsors. We welcome additional sponsors and host committee members!
