We’re happy to announce that current College Now Greater Cleveland president, Dr. Michele Scott Taylor, has been named the organization’s next CEO beginning in January. Having served as College Now’s chief program officer for 13 years, and president since 2023, Taylor will succeed Lee Friedman as CEO, who announced her decision to step down in May.

Tri-C Triumphs in Mentoring Challenge with CSU 


In a friendly competition between Cuyahoga Community College and Cleveland State University, Tri-C has emerged victorious in recruiting faculty and staff for our mentoring program. Special thanks for Eric Gordon, Tri-C’s senior vice president, student development and education pipeline and Nick Petty, CSU’s associate vice president, student belonging and success, for leading the recruitment efforts resulting in 53 mentors from Tri-C and 37 from CSU.  

 

In addition, Tri-C and CSU presidents Dr. Michael Baston and Dr. Laura Bloomberg rallied their employees to volunteer, emphasizing the importance of supporting students through mentorship. Thank you for making a positive impact on the lives of our scholarship recipients! 

College Now participates in Computer Giveaway 


On Saturday, June 15, College Now was a proud partner of the Compudopt computer giveaway at Tri-C's Jerry Sue Thornton Center. The event aimed to ensure all families have the digital access they need to thrive, focusing on recent high school graduates embarking on their postsecondary journeys. Recipients, who qualified by not owning a working computer at home, received a brand-new computer with a 2-year warranty and free tech support. This initiative is a significant step towards bridging the digital divide in our community. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this event!

College Now Staff Service Day  


On Friday, June 14, our staff participated in our annual College Now Day of Service! Groups of employees engaged in various projects around the city, including a beautification project at the Cleveland Cultural Gardens, baking cookies at the Transplant House of Cleveland, organizing clothing donations at Joseph House of Cleveland and food sorting/packing at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

Bags & Bourbon

Join us for the return of College Now's Bags & Bourbon on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the KeyBank State Theatre in Playhouse Square! This evening promises cocktails, designer handbag shopping, bourbon tasting and bidding—all in support of our mentoring program. Since 2013, we've raised over $1.8 million to help students complete their degrees. Your continued support directly fuels the success of our program, ensuring college students receive the vital support they need to excel.

Our team is here, dedicated to helping YOU navigate the path to higher education. From choosing the right program to securing financial aid, we've got you covered - all for FREE!   


Stop by the new office during the times listed below and let's start turning your educational dreams into reality:  


  • Tuesday - Thursday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Friday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (1st/3rd); 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. (2nd/4th)
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (2nd/4th only)



Scholarships for Adult Learners

Adult Learner Scholarship


College Now is committed to supporting everyone who wishes to pursue postsecondary education! If you or someone you know is an adult learner age 19 and older who has taken a break of one year or more after high school, this scholarship is available to receive financial assistance to get back to school. The scholarship is available to adults who are pursuing a first bachelor's degree, an associate's degree, or a non-degree certificate or license in a vocational or technical program.

Congresswoman Shontel Brown Cross the Finish Line Scholarship


The Congresswoman Shontel Brown Cross the Finish Line Scholarship, established in 2023, honors U.S. Representatives Louis Stokes, Stephanie Tubbs Jones and Marcia Fudge. It supports African American residents of Ohio’s 11th Congressional District who are pursuing associate’s or first bachelor’s degrees after an educational break of at least two semesters. Eligible applicants must be 19 or older, qualify for the Federal Pell Grant and reside in Ohio’s 11th District.

AmeriCorps at College Now

Do you know a recent college graduate interested in pursuing a year of service? The AmeriCorps program at College Now is a paid opportunity that places recent graduates into middle and high schools as well as community centers. This work provides information about preparing for, accessing and persisting in a postsecondary education program. If this sounds like somebody you know, we encourage you to spread the word and invite them to apply today!
