Applications opened today for the ninth annual College Prep Invitational, which will take place at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in West Palm Beach, Florida from January 18-20, 2019. Applications for the event are available on the
now. Space is extremely limited so riders are encouraged to submit their applications early. The judge, clinician, and hire a coach for the event will be named at a later date.
During the CPI event, riders experience the college equestrian competition format and win scholarships in hunt seat equitation competition; they can explore an equestrian-focused college fair, attend educational presentations and take advantage of the opportunity for direct conversations with college admissions representatives and equestrian team coaches.
Important dates for student riders considering participation at CPI Florida 2019 are as follows:
- Applications Open: Applications are open NOW and available online (The $30.00 Application Fee will be applied to the Entry Fee for all applications received before midnight on September 1, 2018)
- Application Late Fee Assessed Beginning: November 30, 2018
- Applications Close: December 31, 2018
Important dates for Scholarships available through the CPI Scholarship & Educational Fund for CPI Florida 2019:
- CPI Essay Due: December 1, 2018
- CPI Horsemanship Test Deadline: December 1, 2018
- CPI Practical Horsemanship Challenge: December1, 2018
- CPI Service Award: December 1, 2018
- CPI Photo Contest: February 20, 2019
The cost to attend the CPI is $530.00, which includes horse show entries, access to the college fair and event speakers, and sponsor-hosted social events throughout the weekend. There is a $30 application fee, which will be put towards the entry fee of $530 for those who apply before September 1, 2018. All participants are also eligible to participate in CPI scholarship opportunities.
The CPI Mounted Clinic will take place on Friday, January 19, 2018 and is open to a limited number of student riders. The cost for the clinic is $350.00, and you must be registered for the CPI Horse Show to participate.
Also, open to riders participating at the 2019 CPI Florida Horse Show is the CPI Scholarship and Educational Fund - Jr. Ambassador Program "Fund My Ride" program where riders can fundraise their entry to the Florida event. , volunteers in grades 5-12 have an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge through a yearlong, hands-on learning experience that includes all aspects of managing a series of successful events. Mentored by professionals and working as part of a cohesive team, participants in the program will develop valuable business and life skills including: time management and communication skills, fund raising, event planning, promotions and media relations.
About the College Preparatory Invitational
The CPI is designed to educate student riders about the different formats of college equestrian competitions and provide riders with resources to help them create their desired college equestrian experience. Riders in grades 8 through 12 have a chance to win scholarships in hunt seat equitation competition and participate in educational presentations throughout the event. In an effort to encourage academic excellence and embed social integrity as a lifelong commitment to the equestrian sport, the CPI Scholarship and Educational Fund also awards riders the opportunity to win scholarships for academics and community service.
