ADVISING CORNER
Spring 2018 Class Registration

Spring advising season is here! All students are able to view the 2018 Spring Class Schedule in MYRED. This means you can put classes in your shopping cart, but please note that Priority Registration does not begin until October 23 rd

Please know that I am making updates to the Spring 2018 schedule daily, so be sure to check MYRED often – especially for professional elective updates!

Ultimately, please make an advising appointment to meet with your assigned academic advisor BEFORE October 23 rd! (You can see your advisor assignment in MYRED.)  
INTERIOR DESIGN
Our interior design program prides ourselves on educating our students to be confident, creative and responsible designers. The faculty are diligent in ensuring that the curriculum provides students diverse learning opportunities and provides them with the skills and knowledge to be creative problem solvers and critical thinkers. COMMUNITY & REGIONAL PLANNING
Graduate planning students in this semester’s Planning Studio participated on September 13th in an open house at Cooper Commons, a half-block redevelopment project spearheaded by NeighborWorks Lincoln at 10th and D Streets in Lincoln. LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
It will be six years since the Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board granted the initial accreditation to the course of study leading to the first professional BLA degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Now we are planning for the re¬accreditation, spring 2018. Friday, October 6th, the Landscape Architecture faculty met with eight local professionals to talk about the changes in the Landscape Architecture program as well as sought input in shaping the program towards a successful six more years of accreditation.  More-
ARCHITECTURE
Architecture faculty members and students had a week packed with activities including the NCARB presentation, the Hyde Lecture, the “MAKERS” AIA Central States Region Student Design Competition and the AIA Nebraska | AIA Central States Region Excellence in Design Gala. We were well represented at the design gala with alumni, faculty and students winning numerous accolades. Well done!

COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS RECOGNIZED AT REGIONAL AIA DESIGN GALA

Architectural students Mallory Lane and Ben Kunz won a design award at the AIA Nebraska | AIA Central States Region Excellence in Design Gala held October 5th in Omaha, Nebraska. Their project “Interstitial Hope” earned the Emerging Architects Excellence in Unbuilt Architecture | Honor award. More-

STUDENT & FACULTY COMPETITIONS
Innovation in Affordable Housing Competition

The graduate student competition is run by HUD. It brings together students from different disciplines including architecture, planning, policy, real estate, business and others to collaboratively provide a real-world solutions. The finalists receive a cash prize of $20,000 for first place.

Teams must comprise three to five students, plus one faculty adviser. Visit their  website  for more information regarding the competition and eligibility.

The call for entries for the FORM Student Innovation Competition by Formica Corp. officially opens on September 5. Architecture and design students are invited to create design renderings using Formica® Brand products for the opportunity to win cash prizes and a public exhibit showcasing their work.
