Dean's Message
Check your email for a message from the College with a link to a very short survey regarding your thoughts about our building. This is one opportunity to have input on the context and composition of our future physical environment!

You may have noticed a few studios changed their location over Fall Break, while an inconvenience (and we are appreciative of their flexibility), this is one indicator of our preparations for Phase 1 work (Architecture Library | Studio Renovation) on our building.

Interior Design Alumna Kelly Dubisar is offering a tour of the Omaha LinkedIn office November 1 - this is an additional example of our Professional Advisory Council members at work providing opportunities for us! Details are located below.

As we begin meetings associated with the Dean's Commission on Diversity, you may receive an email invitation to participate. I am excited that we are inviting people from a wide variety of backgrounds (racial, ethnicity, socio-economic, disciplinary) to participate, observe the present and shape our future so we make sure we have a welcoming, fair and inclusive environment. If you receive an email from me, please respond (and I hope you say "Yes" to participating!).

ADVISING CORNER
Spring 2022 Class Registration
Spring advising season is here! Priority Registration for the Spring Pre-session and Regular Spring Semester begins TODAY – Monday, October 25th. If you have not done so already, please make an advising appointment to meet with your assigned academic advisor.

Academic Advising Appointments Reminder
Please remember that if you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment with your advisor to either cancel the appointment in MyPlan or to email your advisor to let them know, so that other students may take advantage of that appointment time slot. This is especially important as we are advising for priority registration right now and advising appointment time slots are being taken up quickly.

Last Day to Withdraw From a Course
The Advising Staff would like to remind faculty and students that the last day to WITHDRAW from one or more full semester courses for fall 2021 is Friday, November 12th.

A few things you should know about “Withdrawing” from a course include:
·NEVER withdraw from a course without checking with your advisor first.
·Be sure to discuss with Scholarships and Financial Aid the impact withdrawing will have on your scholarships and aid packages.
·Be sure to discuss with University Housing how withdrawing may impact your housing eligibility.
·If your full-time or part-time enrollment is verified to receive discounts on your medical/car insurance or your parents’ health and auto insurance, withdrawing from classes may affect your eligibility for continued discounts.

If you have questions about withdrawing from a course, please stop in and see a member of our advising staff.

COMMUNITY AND REGIONAL PLANNING
Happening here every day, UNL community and regional planning students are making an impact in communities across Nebraska. This semester, students in Belinda Fowler’s Environmental Planning and Policy class are collaborating with the City of Hastings, Nebraska, and community stakeholders to discuss
environmental planning needs. Check out this great article in the Hasting Tribune featuring their work.
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
Halfway there! The halfway point is a busy time as midterm exams and project due dates seem to build up to this point, but then last week’s fall break probably gave you a chance to gather yourself, finish a few loose ends and gave you a fresh start for the next stretch of the semester. Mid-semester is also when many studios have interim and project reviews. This is an excellent time for students in the first and second year to get some insight into what lies in their future. Studio reviews are generally open to anyone who wants to watch. There is so much to be learned at a review. Of course, the work and the discussion with the critics is interesting and a primary educational experience. More-
