Bringing the Magic of Music to Local Children

ISU’s Voice Ensemble has been bringing opera to local elementary school students. Their performances are not only fun and interactive for the kids but also give ISU students experience sharing the joy of music.

ISU Brings Collaborative Bioarchaeology to Belize

Dr. Kirsten Green Mink, an anthropology professor at ISU, is leading a workshop in Belize to teach local students bioarchaeology. The workshop will help Belizeans, including Maya students, learn how to study ancient human remains, preserve their history, and share their stories.

Strengthening Healthcare in Rural Communities

The partnership between ISU, Umpqua Community College (UCC), and Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, Oregon, is helping improve healthcare education and jobs in the area. By working together, they are giving students important learning opportunities while also meeting healthcare needs.

Vanessa Ballam Honored with Idaho State Journal’s Woman of Influence Award in the Arts

Vanessa Ballam, Professor of Theatre at ISU, and a dedicated educator, performer, mother, and arts advocate, has been named one of the Idaho State Journal’s Women of Influence for her contributions to the arts.

Amina Miljkovic '26 Wins Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship to Study in Argentina

Amina Miljkovic, an ISU honors student and daughter of Bosnian immigrants, has been awarded the prestigious $3,500 Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship to participate in a medical Spanish immersion program in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Combining her passion for health equity, multilingualism, and dentistry, Amina represents the resilience and ambition of first-generation college students from rural America.

MacKenzie Caress Named Intern of the Month

Senior MacKenzie Caress, a Music Education major, has been named December Career Path Intern of the Month for her exceptional work as a librarian for the Department of Music, where she has gained valuable skills in professionalism, communication, and leadership while organizing band operations and managing the ISU Civic Band.

2,000 Miles Apart, Connected Through Learning

When Thomas Rogers defended his Master of Arts in History thesis at ISU it marked the culmination of a unique academic journey—one conducted entirely online from his home in South Carolina.

Proposals will be accepted until funds are expended, so we recommend you apply as soon as possible.
