All business are embedded in some supply chain, and the success of a business is in part due to the effectiveness of the supply chain. There may also be internal supply chains within a business. Thus streamlining the supply chain for its effective operation is important for managing cost, quality and responsiveness.

In this micro-class we will cover:
  1. How do we find the effective throughput of a series of operations?
  2. What happens when some of the operations have "random service times?"
  3. Where do inventories build up? These give us a clue to bottlenecks.
  4. How do we resolve the bottlenecks?
