College of the Redwoods is Hiring an Adult and Community Education Director

The College of the Redwoods is hiring for the position of Director, Adult and Community Education at their Eureka Downtown location. Reporting to the Vice President of Instruction, the Director is charged with managing the college’s Adult and Community Education Department including managing the daily operations. The Director supervises instructional sites, supervises faculty and program staff, and oversees grant management, including the Adult Education Block Grant. This leadership plans, organizes, coordinates and supervises the operations and activities of adult education (non-credit) and community education (not-for-credit) classes and services. The Director represents the College within the scope of the assignment as appropriate to the state of California educational codes, rules, and regulations. The Director also represents the college in the local community.

  • Understanding local data to identify, inform and build pathways, including labor market, local workforce and equity needs, inverse staffing occupations across industries, such as health care and manufacturing. 
  • Navigating dashboards, data sources, and partnerships to identify gaps in offerings and targeted programming to build seamless pathways. 
  • Using an Opportunity Map to identify student centered transitions and goals along a pathway, including the need for bridge programs, on and offramps, concrete employment and education/training opportunities along a career pathway.

  • Hands on work with the dashboard. Seeing labor market statistics and accompanying explanations. Rich questions and subsequent discussions. Dashboard was awesome! 
  • All the databases, tools, and resources for LMI and correlation to potential careers. 
  • I'll apply more data resources to strategically contribute to the design of pathways in my region. 
  • Support department leadership in shaping decision-making by reminding/pointing to data.


CASAS’ CAEP Accountability for 2022-23 NEW Webinar and Face-to-Face Training

During the webinar and face-to-face training, Jay will provide an overview of quarterly and end of year CAEP data collection requirements, and steps for intake, update, and follow up reporting. During the training, new requirements will be identified and a review of existing guidelines for CAEP reporting, including initiatives at the federal level that may impact state reporting. Updates of CAEP reports and other tools that are available in TOPSpro Enterprise will be provided. State and federal level guidelines that affect CAEP data collection will be identified, and guidance to implement them at the local level will be provided. Lastly, practices for student enrollment, participation, and assessment implementation will be identified to ensure agency compliance and promote student success.

The Technology and Distance Learning Symposium is OTAN’s annual conference with dynamic, hands-on presentations and lively discussions that show participants how to integrate technology to enhance the learner experience, extend the classroom to learners through blended and distance learning, and help adult education programs be more effective and efficient. 

 

TDLS is ideal for teachers, coordinators, administrators, and support staff at California adult education agencies under the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act, WIOA Title II — the federal grant administered by the Adult Education Office at the California Department of Education — as well as adult education staff who work at school districts, community colleges, community or faith-based organizations, volunteer literacy organizations, public or private nonprofit agencies, public libraries, state agencies, and correctional facilities.

CAEP Deliverable Reminders

CAEP Quarter 2 Student Data

The Quarter 2 student data is due by January 31, 2023 in TOPSPro for K-12 CAEP adult education providers and WIOA-funded community college noncredit providers. Additionally, the employment and earnings follow-up survey is due on the same day, January 31, 2023.

CAEP Quarter 2 Expense Report

The Quarter 2 member expense report is to be submitted by the members no later than March 1, 2023. The consortium has until March 31, 2023 to certify the member expense report. *Please note: during this report submission, each member will certify they have either expended the 2020-21 allocation or will return the remaining amount to the State.
