The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides FREE tax preparation services for low to moderate income Montgomery County residents.

Most sources of financial aid require tax information from students and their families. Filing your taxes now will help you to be prepared for financial aid season in Fall 2019.

NAME: Kappa Youth & Community Foundation Scholarship
DUE DATE: March 15, 2019
AMOUNT: Varies 
ELIGIBILITY: Grade 12; Submit short essay, transcript, and two letters of recommendation: one from a school administrator and one from a community member.

NAME: Legacy of Life Scholarship  
DUE DATE: March 31, 2019
AMOUNT:  $1,000 - $5,000
ELIGIBILITY: Grade 12; must be a legal resident of the DC Metro Area; requires a 1000-word persuasive essay about organ and tissue donation.  

NAME: The American Bar Association Law Day Art Contest
DUE DATE:  March 31, 2019
AMOUNT:  $750  
ELIGIBILITY:  Grades 9-12; create a two-dimensional art piece that highlights the theme "Free Speech, Free Press, Free Society"; submissions accepted from individuals and teams. 

NAME:  Central Scholarship
DUE DATE:  April 1, 2019
AMOUNT:  Up to $10,000
ELIGIBILITY: In grade 12, Maryland resident, minimum GPA of 2.0, family income is below $90,000 per year, or $66,000 for students pursuing career and tech training.  US citizen or a permanent resident
