Dear Families and Friends,

As Topeka Collegiate moves into the spring semester, it’s important we all work together to make this semester count.

At Topeka Collegiate, our community believes in the transformative power of education - nurturing not only the minds of our students but also their hearts. It’s here that children are inspired to think critically, challenge the status quo, and embrace their unique abilities. It’s here that the seeds of confidence, creativity, and compassion are planted — qualities that empower them to make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond.

We hope you’ll join us in continuing to plant those seeds on Saturday, February 22, for our annual Evening on Eveningside event as we come together to celebrate all that Topeka Collegiate has to offer and raise important funds for this special school. Your investment will help strengthen this community and shape the future of local, independent education.

EDUCATE

Topics that support the Educate Pillar of the Strategic Plan, ensuring that we provide an unparalleled foundational education.

Honor Roll

Congrats to the students who earned the Second Quarter Honor Roll!

The five core classes (Language Arts, History, Math, Science, and Spanish) are weighted courses in establishing the GPA. The weight of each of these classes is “3”. All other courses that the students are enrolled in are given a value of one point. To earn the High Honors, a student’s GPA from all enrolled courses must be above 3.7 on a 4.0 scale. Students who earn a GPA from 3.4 to 3.69 earn a spot on the Honor Roll at the Honors Level.

Check here for the complete list of qualifying students. Please reach out to the Academic Dean if you have any questions.

National History Day

Our National History Day Showcase was a tremendous success!

This Beyond the Book experience has been a cornerstone of Topeka Collegiate, with a proud tradition of excellence. Over the years, our students have created more than 90 projects that qualified for nationals, with several dozen placing at the National Competition level.

Stay tuned for the results from today’s judging, which will be shared in next week’s middle school newsletter.

Congratulations to all our middle school students on their hard work and creativity!

Welcome New Families!

We are thrilled to welcome two new families to our school community!

This semester, Angelica C. and Scarlett S. have joined our 7th-grade class. Scarlett and her family—Katrin, Nathan, and her brother Ethan—recently relocated from Nova Scotia, Canada. Angelica and her mother, Larysa, arrived from Ukraine 10 months ago.

We are excited to support their journeys and watch them thrive in their learning adventures!

From the Academic Dean

As a reminder, parents of current Grade 5 students are invited to the middle school on Tuesday, January 21, and Tuesday, January 23. From 8:15 AM to 10:15 AM, parents will join the students and faculty, getting a taste of student life. These days will feature the standard Morning Meetings and the first two instructional hours of the day. Please join us if you can.

Due to a conflict with a rescheduled basketball game, the Grade 5 parent meeting with Mr. Flax on Monday, February 3, will be moved to Tuesday, February 4. The meeting will be held in the Center for Curiosity, Awe, and Wonder beginning at 6:00 PM. Topics will include reviewing the visitation days mentioned previously and some curriculum sharing for Grade 6.

One more meeting is planned for Monday, March 31. Mr. Flax and Mrs. Tamara Buche will meet with you all to discuss our middle school math program and the two curricular resources we use in Grade 6. We are hopeful that these meetings will be helpful to parents and are open to hearing your questions as they arise. We to see several of you at these meetings.

Enrollment and Fee Rates

Families received an email earlier this week outlining the next steps, if necessary, for re-enrollment for the 2025-2026 academic year. If re-enrollment is uncertain, the email includes the deadlines for that process.

The Board of Trustees has approved a fee increase for the 2025-2026 academic year to address rising costs associated with delivering high-quality student programming and experiences. While fees have remained steady in previous years, this adjustment is essential to sustain and enhance these offerings. The updated fees for the upcoming year are as follows:

Division 1 (PreK - Grade 1)

Division 2 (Grade 2 - 4)

Division 3 (Grade 5 - 8)

Activity Fee
