Preaching Text: Luke 3:1-22 

Vipers and belovedness… These two words may not seem to go well together, but John walks into the space between them and proclaims them to be good news. And here’s where I find good news… Sometimes I feel more like a viper than beloved. To know that I am welcome to the waters of repentance in my viperness is such very good news for me. Maybe you’ll hear it as good news as well.

Holy God, John appeared, calling the people to repentance. Help us to see where we need to repent (turn around) in order to follow You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
