Lakewood Yacht Club and Rice University to Host Owlapalooza Regatta

Seabrook, TX: Lakewood Yacht Club and Rice University are excited to host their first regatta together, Owlapalooza, October 1 and 2.
|
|
|
So far students from 13 universities will be competing, including Rice, University of Texas, Baylor University, University of Kansas, Tulane University, University of New Orleans, Oklahoma State University, University of Colorado at Boulder, University of North Texas, Loyola University, Texas A&M main campus, Corpus Christi, and Galveston.
To alleviate costs for students, LYC members and Rice alumni, Ethan Brown and Jeff Gourley, are covering all of their entry fees, boat rental fees, and all meals for Saturday and Sunday. Brown and Gourley are asking for volunteers to house 1 or 2 college students Friday and Saturday nights, either in their homes or on their boats. They are also looking for spectator boats and volunteers for the events, as well as people willing to make contributions to help cover the costs of boat rentals, meals, snacks and race shirts. Because LYC members are footing the bill, Owlapalooza is a great opportunity for college students to race in a regatta at little or no cost to them.
Owlapalooza is sure to be an exciting event, so come enjoy a weekend on the water and support your alma mater.
