Ministerial Alliance Unites Colleyville Community
Ministerial Alliance
After the recent terrorist attack at Congregation Beth Israel, the community needs to come together now more than ever to celebrate each other and have a moment of reflection. This week, a sub-committee of the Colleyville Ministerial Alliance met to discuss just this type of event. After feedback was received from representatives of different houses of worship in our community, a decision was made to create "Colleyville Strong: A Celebration of Faith & Community."

This event will take place on Monday, February 21 at the Colleyville Center with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. The event, which will include multiple speakers, musical selections, and more will start at 7:00 p.m. with a dessert fellowship to follow at 8:00 p.m. Stay tuned for more information.

Why Does Road Construction Take So Long?
road construction ahead
Road construction can be inconvenient, disruptive, and frustrating but the end result benefits the community in many ways! Two of the most frequent questions asked during the construction phase of a project are:
  • Why does construction take so long?
  • Why is there not any work being done?

With Glade Road and Cheek-Sparger currently under construction, we know you may have some questions and concerns. The link below provides some insight into these two most asked questions.

Prepare Now for Winter Weather
winter weather reminders
Texas does not always experience harsh winter weather but as we learned last February, winter storms do occur and can sneak up in a hurry. Now is the time to prepare for winter weather!

This month's Communicator newsletter, included with residents' utility bill, highlights steps to take to prepare for any type of severe weather. The article includes information on outdoor warning sirens, CodeRED weather notifications, NOAA weather alert radios, and weather apps.

It is not uncommon for our area to experience freezing temperatures, icy conditions, or even snow during the winter. Here are a few tips to prepare for winter weather:

  • If going outside, wear layers of loose-fitting lightweight, warm clothing. Mittens, a hat and scarf help to reduce heat loss.
  • Bring pets inside or ensure they have enough shelter to stay warm.
  • Bring potted plants indoors; cover sensitive outdoor plants with fabric cloth.
  • Prepare vehicles by checking the antifreeze levels, brakes, heater, defroster, tires, and windshield wipers to ensure everything is in good shape and working.
  • Create an emergency kit for at least three days of self-sufficiency per person and pets. Make sure to have extra blankets, sleeping bags, and warm winter coats in case the power goes out.
  • Check on elderly family members, neighbors or friends to make sure they are faring well in the cold. Asking questions about their heating system, food supplies, and medication levels are a good way to gauge their needs.
