Sales Tax Collections Continue Strong | |
Colleyville sales tax collections continue to exceed those of last year (and beyond)! The sales tax collections for December 2022 came in at 7.1% higher than December of the previous year. Most notable is the record-breaking collections the City continues to see year over year.
The City collects a total of 2% on every purchase (the State collects 6.25%), with 1% going to the general fund, .50% going to the Colleyville Crime Control and Prevention District (CCCPD), and .50% going to the Colleyville Economic Development Corporation (CEDC). These sales tax dollars help pay for police officer salaries, equipment, and training, as well as parks and trail improvements and library operations. The increase in sales tax dollars is one of the ways that the City was able to adopt the no new revenue property tax rate for the fifth consecutive year. Every dollar the City collects in sales tax is a dollar the City does not need in property tax. Keep shopping local!
