The City does not have a water supply issue, and we are not under a water boil. Right now, we do not know yet from the Trinity River Authority if we will be mandated to issue a boil order. Staff has contacted the Trinity River Authority on the hour today for updates regarding the chlorine delivery that is needed to avoid a boil order. Our hope is that the delivery will make it in time so that we do not have to issue one.

The Trinity River Authority has asked Colleyville to conserve water now to make the clean water last until the chlorine delivery. Either way, boil order or not, we will notify the community on Colleyville.com, Facebook, and through CodeRed. There will be plenty of water supply for normal activities such as showers, flushing toilets, and washing machines. You will only have to boil water for consumption if a boil order is issued.

As temperatures warm up, there will be significant pipe breaks and water flooding issues. Community Waste Disposal (CWD), the city's trash and recycle provider, is canceling all service this week and will resume on Monday, February 22. CWD drivers are reporting that significant portions of the city are unserviceable due to ice and the number of parked cars in the streets. We appreciate your understanding as they work to service all residents and maintain safety for their drivers.

Over the past week, we've seen our community do what it does best — show compassion and love for each other in times of need! Residents have checked on neighbors, offered rides and transportation, opened their homes to others, aided with water turnoffs and even offered tips on staying warm and winterizing homes and pools.

The Colleyville Public Library became a home-away-from-home this week for many Colleyville and area residents as they sought warmth, food, and electricity from the extreme winter weather, often necessitated by prolonged power outages and burst water pipes. Library study rooms became "suites" for families finding a warm place to sleep and recharge. Corners of the Library became homey places where children were able to play and adults could access building Wi-Fi.

Staff members from various city departments worked to keep the warming center open 24/7 from 4 p.m. February 15 through 8 p.m. February 18. Mayor Newton, City Council members, city leadership staff, and Colleyville Police spent time visiting with residents, listening to concerns, and expressing support during this difficult event.

Many fellow citizens and businesses generously donated food for the Library warming station and our first responders. The Colleyville City Council encourages all citizens to consider involvement in City government by serving on a City board, commission, or committee. Applications for boards, commissions, and committees are accepted year round, and will be kept until the City Council makes appointments based on term expiration or vacancy.

The Colleyville Advisory Committee and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board have terms expiring in March. If you have an interest and would like to apply, visit colleyville.com. Originally scheduled to begin February 15 but delayed by weather, TxDOT will soon commence construction of the Cheek-Sparger Reconstruction project from Colleyville Boulevard to Brown Trail. Within the next few weeks, one-way westbound traffic will be implemented from Oakbriar Lane to San Bar Lane.

As with any construction project, we do anticipate inconveniences. Traffic will be one-way at times. Message boards and traffic control devices will be utilized to notify the traveling public of the upcoming project and will be updated, as needed, throughout the construction. TxDOT expects work to be completed in late summer 2022.

Our annual clean-up event, Clean Sweep, returns Saturday, February 27. Clean Sweep offers residents a one-stop drop off event with 5 stations: the Crud Cruiser (household hazardous waste), electronics recycling, document shredding, bulk/brush trash, and tire recycling.
