Leaf Recycling Total Exceeds Last Year | |
Leaves are an important part of the natural environment. Left on land, leaves decompose, feeding your plants and enriching your soil. When large amounts of leaves are washed off our lawns, into storm drains and into our water bodies, decaying leaves use up oxygen and release pollutants which suffocate fish and kill plant material.
During the six week 2023-2024 Leaf Recycling Program, Colleyville citizens recycled 704 tons of leaves that were taken to the Living Earth recycling facility to be made into compost, soil, and mulches. This season's collection was an increase from 488 tons collected last year!
Thank you to everyone who participated in this annual program!
