Update on Recreation Center Renovations | |
At the March 7, 2023 City Council meeting, renovations to the recently purchased property at 5008 Roberts Road were discussed. Phase I Renovations will create a new large gymnasium and expand an existing gymnasium, in addition to several smaller updates to facilitate use as a Recreation Center.
The City entered into a Professional Services Agreement with Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architect (BSW) in November 2022 to provide an assessment of the Colleyville Recreation Center (formerly Covenant Church) building (roof, mechanical, engineering, plumbing, and accessibility). The City Council approved an additional agreement with BSW at the last City Council meeting to continue oversight of the renovation project. It is anticipated the Phase I project will go out for bid in April, with renovations to commence this summer.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will be working to develop a recommendation for future amenities which may be desired in future phases of the Recreation Center transformation.
