Garden Must-Have
Perennial Butterfly Weed
Native to eastern & southern US. Grows 1 to 3 feet tall & wide in full or partial sun. Needs well-drained soil but tolerates heat, humidity & drought. Deer resistant. The leaves are a food source for monarch butterfly larvae & the flowers, which emerge June through August, are a nectar source for many butterflies. Develops a taproot so best left undisturbed once established. Perennial butterfly weed can be hard to find, so stop by soon if you'd like to add one to your garden.
