ATS receives two Lilly Endowment Inc. grants to support member schools
ATS recently received two large grants from
Lilly Endowment Inc. for projects involving
diversity and leadership development. This fall, including the Pathways for Tomorrow Initiative supplemental grant, ATS has received three major grants to help equip its member schools and their leaders to make the changes they need to pursue their multiple futures. Read more. Listen to more.
Friendships, theological education, and ministry embraced at global consultation
The International Council for Evangelical Theological Education—a global community to enable international interaction and collaboration among those concerned with the enhancement of evangelical theological education worldwide—gathered 462 participants from 80 countries and 286 churches and organizations from around the world November 14–18, 2022, in Izmir, Turkey for its 18th global consultation. ATS schools discuss defining faculty workload in recent online gathering
Nearly 60 people from ATS member schools participated in an online conversation at the end of November to discuss defining faculty workload in their institutions. An Engage ATS discussion post asking about the topic gained more than 50 responses from fellow ATS members who were eager to connect with colleagues to learn more, which led to the Zoom gathering. ATS school leaders share strategic uses of data
What does your school do with information about a decrease in enrollment from the previous year? Do school leaders compare such a data point to an internal trend line, to data from peer schools, to industry data? Do decision-makers gather a team to consider how that information relates to finance data or findings from industry research? Do you take the information to the board? Save the date for ATS intercultural awareness webinar
The ATS Committee on Race and Ethnicity is hosting a panel webinar, in partnership with the ATS Coordination Program for the Pathways for Tomorrow Initiative, on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 1:00–2:15 p.m. ET. The virtual event is open to all leaders at ATS schools and is called Institutional Discernment for Building Intercultural Awareness among Faculty and Administrators.
Lilly Endowment Inc. invites proposals for Compelling Preaching Initiative
Lilly Endowment Inc. recently launched its Compelling Preaching Initiative. The aim of the initiative is "to cultivate practices among aspiring and active preachers that can help them to proclaim the gospel in more engaging and effective ways." Charitable organizations in the United States with Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3) and public charity status are eligible to apply. The Endowment is especially interested in proposals from theological schools, colleges and universities, church resource providers, parachurch organizations and networks, national and regional denominational judicatories, and other religious organizations.
