With District 2 school board member Johanna Lopez during Friday evening's home football game. Our Grenadiers came up short by 4 points, but played very competitive football - a well fought game! Go Grenadiers! Next up this Friday - Lake Nona's Lions at HOME!
|
As you will see in this week's update, our Grenadiers have real momentum heading into week #3 after a successful start to the new school year.
I do need to remind our families that the OCPS dress code is fully enforced at Colonial! (The dress code is part of the larger
OCPS Student Code of Conduct.) Clothing that is too revealing (showing belly or across the shoulders) is unacceptable on a school campus, and will require a change of clothes. Let's make sure our focus is on learning, and not on having to change clothes. Otherwise, we are seeing excellent student engagement in the classrooms and are truly off to a fine start.
This week I ask a favor. Should you happen to see
Ms. Minnear (Main Campus Teacher of the Year),
Mr. Kisala (9th Grade Center Teacher of the Year),
Mr. Berg (Main Campus Support Person of the Year) or
Ms. Ocasio (9th Grade Center Support Person of the Year) this week, kindly take a moment to congratulate them. What they have earned is a major career achievement and was determined by nominations from their peers. As your new principal I am so proud of their deserved recognitions and have enjoyed getting to know each of these four exemplary Colonial staff members.
This issue should give you some appreciation of our
Grenadier Happenings over recent days. Thank you for looking over this latest update and best wishes for a productive week ahead!
It's Great to be a Grenadier!
Dr. Hector Maestre
Principal

The Orlando Colonial FFA Officer team met this past weekend to learn about themselves, each other, grow as a team, and begin to plan a year of activities for their members. As part of their officer retreat, members toured the Chelonian Institute, a world-renowned research facility studying turtles and tortoises.
