This Monday we officially begin winter break which runs for students through Tuesday, January 3, 2023. Classes will resume on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. Report cards will also be released near the middle of the January. This is our final Colonial Connection for 2022 and includes highlights from the last week of the 2nd quarter and 1st semester. As you will see below, our Grenadiers continued to rack up success stories across the board right through Friday this past week.
Hopefully you can take some quality time during the winter break to connect or reconnect with people important to you. If you are traveling out on the roadways this holiday season, please drive carefully and remember to always buckle up. Thank you for reading this year-end edition and a very happy holiday season to you and your family!

Orlando Sentinel news story:

Excerpt from the Buddy Collings Orlando Sentinel story:
Veteran coach Gary McDaniel knew what he was getting into when he accepted the Colonial High boys basketball job prior to the 2021-22 school year.
He took over a team coming off a 2-21 season and was tasked with rebuilding a struggling program in the meat grinder that is Orange County’s Metro Conference.
For years, with the exception of a few bright spots, the Grenadiers have been one of the teams that Orlando area powerhouses have chewed up and spit out.
“My goal in the beginning was that by Year 2 we become consistently competitive in this highly competitive city for boys high school basketball,” McDaniel said Monday.
So far, so good.
After getting back onto solid ground with a 12-13 debut season in 2012-13, McDaniel has Colonial 7-0 heading into the holiday break.
