Colonial High School
CHS Community Member
We will have school this Monday, Feb. 20 which is also Presidents Day. This is to make up for some of the lost instructional time from the two hurricanes we experienced this past fall. The full calendar of severe weather makeup days is included in this issue.

Congratulations to our Lady Grenadier Basketball team!! They won 61-46 on Friday vs. Port Orange Spruce Creek to win the 7A Region final. The Grenadiers (21-8) will now compete in the Florida High School Athletic Association state tournament in Lakeland this week for the first time since 2015 - Class 7A girls basketball brackets. They will be playing Winter Haven High School in the state semi-final game at 2:30pm on Friday, Feb. 24. Good luck Grenadiers!
Thank you to those parents that turned out for our "Pop-In" parent conference special event this past week (additional pictures below). We were very glad to have you on campus and your support.
I hope everyone will join in as part of our FFA Week beginning on Monday. We have both educational and entertaining events planned which everyone can enjoy. The daily schedule can be found just below.

Thank you very much for reading and Grenadiers, prepare to make this another successful week!

Grenadier Athletics
Colonial Cheer ranked #11 US!
CHS competed against teams from across the US last week, including 5 state champions. Our cheerleaders performed 3 times over the weekend and gave it their all.

We are proud to be 1 out 4 OCPS schools to compete at UCA Nationals, but the ONLY Title I school!

We wear Colonial PROUD across our chest because It’s Great To Be A Grenadier!
Parent Pop Special Event
Thank you to all of our parents who joined us for Parent Pop-In conferences last week! Please continue to monitor your student’s grades, and encourage them to attend tutoring sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school each week.

Speech and Debate Team competes in Gainesville
Our Speech and Debate team had another successful weekend in Gainesville, where we not only got the opportunity to compete, but our students also got to see the UF campus and even go on a nature hike at the Devil's Millhopper! We would like to congratulate Sahiry Vazquez, who championed in Extemporaneous Debate (pictured below with her trophy).

We were lucky that John Wright (just below standing on far right), from the OCPS Innovation office, was also attending the tournament and he got to celebrate our success with us! Thank you for supporting and celebrating our hard-working Grenadier Debaters!
Our Grenadiers visited the Devil's Millhopper Geological State Park, north of Gainesville, during their time in north central Florida. The Devil's Millhopper is a bowl-shaped cavity 120 feet deep that leads to a miniature rainforest.
