We Need Your Support!
"We care for ALL cats”

Meet Lemon, a beautiful four month old tortoise shell female kitten. Lemon and her sister did not have an easy start in life as they were found by an employee in a dumpster behind a Taco Bell restaurant. They were in terrible condition and taken immediately to the closest shelter. After initial examination it was determined that while one cat was healthy and immediately adoptable, Lemon needed a further and more in-depth evaluation. Unable to provide this type of care, the partner shelter transferred Lemon to Cat Care Society.

After conducting several neurological tests including motor skills, vision and hearing, it was clear that little Lemon had most likely suffered brain damage either when thrown in the dumpster or by being crushed by the weight of trash on top of her.

It took a lot of care, creativity, and attention from medical personnel, behaviorists, and volunteer socializers to help Lemon adapt to her disabilities, but she has now moved to the main floor of the shelter and is ready for adoption. Lemon is not the right fit for just any home. She is very small and has more of a “bunny hop” than the gait of a normal cat, so human and animal friends must be cautious when walking around her.  She can become over stimulated and frightened and “bite the hand that plays with her” if you do not listen to the little squeak she makes which signals to stop and leave her alone. Even with her rough start, Lemon still has a wonderful quality of life, likes to be held, and is happy to snuggle up on a pillow or a lap.

Without your donations, Cat Care Society would not have the resources to support the lives of cats and kittens like Lemon in the metro Denver community. Please consider a gift to Cat Care Society on Colorado Gives Day, December 7, 2021 and help us continue our great work in 2022.

Lauren Needs A Home
Meet Lauren. She is a sassy 4 year old lady with a sweet side, who is very particular about everything. She is quite selective about whom she likes, whom she likes to play with, when she wants to be touched, and when she is done with being touched. In her free time, Lauren enjoys playing with toys and lounging in sunny spots she deems cozy.

Cat Care Society took Lauren in as a stray, so nothing is known about her life before coming here. She was adopted but recently returned because her owner's job required frequent travel. It is recommended that her new owner not have children or grandchildren around since her sass can be a bit rough on youngsters. Since she does not like other animals, it would best for her to be the only pet in the home.

Lauren is looking for a single person home with a human who is kind, patient, will let her do her own thing and who won't mind a sweet cat with some attitude.

Ask The Cats

Dear Sir Cat:

Why do cats so completely endear themselves to humans?

Now this is a mystery, for we cats are so very capable of living life solo. We don’t really need humans, yet we really like them. Without humans, there would be no limit of things to scale or climb, no breakables to dodge, no silly rules, or strange customs. Don’t underestimate our capacity for love! We cats choose friendship with humans and grant them entrance into our world – and in the process they become mesmerized by us.

Thanks for caring.
