Clark's Remarks
We have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. GES received a large grant and Osage’s charter was renewed!  And we are thankful for all of you, Colorado High School’s community and supporters. Additionally, we are happy to report that we are under contract to sell the 3035 E 42 nd Ave building. The sale should be completed in early February.  Thank you for your support for our annual Thanksgiving baskets and please remember Colorado High School Charter on Colorado Gives Day December 5th.

Over the past 6 months we have seen a number of survivors of sexual assault and harassment come forward to share their stories and confront the perpetrators. As a father, husband, son, school leader and human being I am appalled by the behavior of the perpetrators. We must work harder to create institutions of learning and work places that are safe for everyone. Colorado High School Charter will ensure that students and staff receive explicit education around what constitutes sexual harassment and assault.  As a community, it's imperative that all of us are advocates that speak up when we see behavior we know to be inappropriate.  I thank each of you for partnering with us to create a safer, better and more equitable society through our work with our community.  These times can be triggering to past and present survivors of sexual assault and harassment.  If you need resources we have found Blue Bench an organization that works to provide prevention and care for survivors to be very helpful.

GES Awarded New School Start Up Grant
GES has been awarded a Start Up Grant by CDE for $687,750 over two years. The funds will be used to equip science labs and buy textbooks, calculators, computers, software, furniture and construction tools. GES staff will also benefit from training in Project Based Learning, the Big Idea Project, Restorative Justice, Competency Based Learning, School Leader Intensive and other professional development opportunities. We are very excited to have been recognized by CDE as a school worth investing in!
Colorado Gives Day is December 5

Colorado’s largest day of giving, Colorado Gives Day, is on December 5th. On this day, thousands of people come together to support Colorado nonprofits like ours. When you donate to Colorado High School, you’re helping us continue to provide our amazing students with a fresh start and a brighter future.

Please help us reach our goal to raise $5,000 for a new Benevolence Fund. This Fund will provide emergency food, clothing, shelter and transportation to our students, removing barriers to success and creating a greater sense of community. Learn more.

Thanks to the $1Million Incentive Fund from Community First Foundation and FirstBank, your donation goes further on Colorado Gives Day.

DPS and CDE Renew Osage's Charter
Denver Public Schools and the Colorado Department of Education announced this week that they are renewing the Charter for our Osage Campus for three years. This renewal can be extended another two years provided we maintain our “green” status, which we have achieved two years in a row. The extension period is the maximum allowed and we are very proud of the hard work and accomplishments of our staff and students that this renewal demonstrates.
Osage Campus School Accountability Committee
The Osage Campus School Accountability Committee held their first meeting of the year this month. The Committee is made up of parents, teachers, administrators and community members. They will meet throughout the school year to discuss school priorities and goals around student achievement and culture. If you are interested in participating, please contact Liz Feldhusen , Osage School Principal.
Thanksgiving Baskets

Thanks to your generous support, we were able to provide 318 Thanksgiving baskets to our families. Each family received canned and dry goods and a grocery store gift card to buy perishable items. This has become an annual tradition for Colorado High School and is greatly appreciated by all who receive the baskets.
