Clark's Remarks
I am grateful to work with such compassionate and tenacious young people and colleagues on a daily basis. Yes, it's the big things: 28 students helping to rebuild Houston after a hurricane, two years of "Green" status on the SPF and increasing the number of students we serve to 370. But it's also the smaller things: staff, already overloaded, taking the initiative to write grants that provide more resources for our students and receiving a thank-you letter from the Houston Humane Society letting us know that our students were some of the best volunteers they'd ever had. All of our futures are tied together and I am inspired by what I see at Colorado High School Charter every day.

CHSC Earns a Green Rating Two Years in a Row!
For the second year in a row, Colorado High School has been designated a "Green" school by Denver Public Schools. This rating means we are meeting all of our benchmarks on the School Performance Framework. The SPF is our "report card" and rates how well the school supports student growth and achievement and how well it serves students and families. Congratulations to our staff and students for achieving this important milestone!
GES Campus Project Showcase
GES students presented projects to staff, parents and each other in their Block 1 Project Showcase. Students presented projects that included garden designs incorporating permaculture principles, school space designs with an eye on their future location, furniture building and woodworking projects, and creative solutions to real community issues. Judges awarded prizes to those students who best presented their project. See photos here .

Block 2 Project Showcase will be on November 2 from 9-12. Community members and parents are invited.
Please Help Us Provide Thanksgiving to All of Our Students
Each year we provide Thanksgiving baskets to every student. We not only provide a great meal to the families we serve, we also use this opportunity to build and strengthen these relationships. Please help us by making a cash donation or by donating nonperishable food. Last year we provided baskets to 370 families! Deadline for donations is November 13.

Osage Students Help with Hurricane Relief
28 students and six staff members traveled to Houston to help with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. They helped a school move to a new location and an animal shelter care for animals rescued or displaced by the storm. Prior to the trip, 9News visited the campus and interviewed staff and students. Watch their coverage. The Houston residents were very grateful for the help, and the staff and students report that it was a very rewarding experience. View photos here .

A Lion Shout Out to Liz Feldhusen, Eldijana Bjelcic, Liz Cassity, Rebeccah Winslow, Joshua Trinidad, Jonathon Speese and Amanda King for organizing and/or going on the trip. And a Lion Shout Out to all of those staff members who held down the fort while they were gone.
More Lion Shout-Outs

A Lion Shout Out to our GES Science Teacher, Michael Green. Michael wrote and won the Bird Sleuth Grant that will help fund a gardening program for GES science students.

A Lion Shout Out to our GES Assistant Principal, Micah Rose, for writing an extensive grant application requesting over $500K in charter school start-up funding. Awards will be announced in December.
