Calflora is an independent nonprofit plant database. We combine plant observations from thousands of sources and offer them to you from our website: The Calflora Database.

Use Calflora's Observation Search to comb through millions of plant records from across California. A legend above the map depicts the record type.
Common Record Types
Most observations are simple, non-specimen points (purple).


Calflora pulls specimen locations from CCH2 (California Consortium of Herbaria) (blue).


Observers delineate a line or polygon to show the extent of a population (pink). Zoom in on these records to see polygon shape.


Calflora also contains records where the location is obscured (e.g., for some rare plants), surveys, checklists, and records that show up at the quadrangle level. More here:
