What is your greatest goal in life? What motivates you when you are completing an assignment, fulfilling a job requirement, serving your family, or teaching children? The Bible teaches us that we are to live for the glory of God. We are to lift high the name of Christ. In Colossians 1:15-23, Paul describes Christ’s supremacy in the creation and the new creation. We are reminded of the importance of spending more time looking to Christ than we spend looking at ourselves. Think of how this would change how you live. For example, we’re accustomed to focusing on our problems. As we do so, anger, anxiety, fear, jealousy, and the like multiply in our hearts and minds. But Paul points us to the solution: the Lord Jesus Christ. We must turn to Him and trust Him. In whatever situation we find ourselves, we are to lift high the name of Jesus.
