We missed you at the recent Columbus Academy Black Alumni Gathering at Hubbard Grille. It was an evening filled with great conversation, energy, insight, and shared experiences. To see pictures from the evening
click here. The opportunity to get together as alumni, parents, and friends helps keep Academy's momentum thriving and growing and we hope to have more events in the future!
On a related note, during our time together host committee members Morgan Harper '01 and Ron Ransom '89 shared remarks with the group, focusing on the school's desire to build community and increase the engagement with Academy's black alumni through new and intentional initiatives. We hope that these initiatives will provide diverse ways for our black alumni to connect with each other and support the mission of our school. These opportunities currently include:
- Participating in dialogue about future black alumni engagement -- we are looking to convene a group (via a conference call, you do not need to live locally to participate!) of alumni that will serve as a think tank/focus group helping to provide the school with feedback and ideas on how to meaningfully move forward and think about what comes next.
- Attending future black alumni social gatherings and programs (this will be based on what the aforementioned group thinks is best).
- Volunteering to participate in a new mentoring program we are developing. The program would connect our black alumni with current upper school students to provide guidance, advice, and role-modeling for support in high school and beyond. Alumni can participate in different ways depending on your interest and availability. Please contact Director of Diversity and Community Life, Beckett Broh, to share your interest and/or learn more.
- Helping CA foster greater diversity among its faculty and staff by sharing our interest and job postings through your networks. Open positions can be found on our webpage at www.columbusacademy.org/careers. Please share widely!
