Columbus Academy Announces Year-End Speakers
Ricky Joshi from Columbus Academy’s class of 1997 will serve as guest speaker for the school’s 111th Commencement on June 3, 2024, and JoAnne Adams will deliver this year’s Cum Laude Address at Upper School Honors Assembly on May 21.

“I am beyond honored to have the opportunity to address the Academy class of 2024,” stated Ricky, a distinguished entrepreneur and co-founder of Saatva, the pioneering online luxury mattress retailer that has fundamentally transformed the mattress industry since its inception in 2011. “Academy has always held a deep and profound connection to my own life’s journey. The lessons I learned at Academy, both inside and outside the classroom, have served as a launching pad for everything that has come after. I hope my story inspires future graduates to follow their hearts and chase their dreams with passion, integrity and curiosity.”

“The class of 2024 has earned the right to be celebrated,” said JoAnne, a lower school PE teacher since 1994 and current PE department chair who established the Third Grade Little Dribblers two decades ago and coaches middle school field hockey and girls lacrosse. “I am honored, albeit slightly surprised, to receive the invitation to address the senior class. I hope to share some memories from their early days at Columbus Academy in addition to making everyone smile as you realize how much they have grown.”

Previously she was the chief security technology strategist for Intel and led two successful cybersecurity businesses after graduating Cum Laude from The Ohio State University with a degree in electrical and computer engineering.

The event welcomes the graduating class of 2024 to Academy's Alumni Association through an interactive luncheon with students and Alumni Board members. During a three-course meal, the seniors switched tables and engaged in conversations about topics related to networking and staying involved as alumni.

Memorial Events Honoring Pair of Beloved Vikings
Columbus Academy recently hosted events to honor a pair of young alums who left us too early. On April 18, our boys tennis program started a new tradition by playing Bexley for the inaugural Jack Madison Cup in memory of a 2021 CA graduate from Bexley who passed away in January of 2023. Two days later our baseball team faced Amanda-Clearcreek in the Andy Bowman Memorial Baseball Game honoring a 2016 grad who passed away in February of 2023. Arts & Sports Recap
This year's upper school spring musical – "Sister Act" – hosted over a thousand guests in our Schoedinger Theatre from April 25-27. Students played crucial roles throughout all three public performances including cast roles as well as stage crew, photography and sound board. Even the school's community dog, Nelson, made a lasting impression with stage appearances. To view photos from this performance, click here.

We also recently celebrated the Senior Art Show, which is the traditional event for family, friends and faculty/staff to enjoy what the seniors have been working on all year. If you're in town, their work will be available to view in the Morris Hall Art Gallery until May 21. You can also click on the following links to see a virtual tour through the exhibit and a slideshow of all the displayed artwork.
We recently celebrated three seniors – Yasemin Bilgin (women’s tennis at Case Western Reserve University), William Harpster (men’s swimming at Bucknell University) and Alli Klinefelter (women’s track & field at Clemson University) – at our Spring Athletic Signing Ceremony. They joined five others who committed to continuing their athletic careers on the collegiate level earlier this school year: Justin Alpert (football at the University of Pennsylvania), Arya Chabria (tennis at Stonehill College), Lauren Golden (field hockey at Babson College), Morgan Halpern (lacrosse at Lafayette College) and Ryne Whitt (lacrosse at Denison University).
