A Look Back at Alumni Weekend 2022
|
Nearly 200 alumni, faculty, staff, family and friends enjoyed a weekend celebrating all things Academy on September 23-24.
The festivities began Friday evening with special receptions for the classes of 1971 and 1972 as those Vikings celebrated their 50th reunions. Prior to kickoff of the varsity football game against Buckeye Valley, members of the Class of 1972 headed down to Hondros Field to serve as honorary captains for the coin toss. Halftime of the football game also welcomed members of the 1995 state championship boys soccer team to midfield as the group was honored for its Covid-delayed 25th anniversary victory over Richfield Revere in the Division II state finals.
On Saturday graduates joined long-tenured and retired faculty, staff and coaches for coffee, toured campus, heard "The State of Academy" from Head of School Melissa Soderberg, participated in the inaugural MOSAIC/Black Alumni Luncheon, enjoyed a picnic lunch and recognized Michael Corey '01 and Ryan Williams '08 as the 2020 and 2022 Young Alumni Award recipients. Also, individual classes gathered throughout the weekend for their class reunions.
