Renewable Energy is a major focus at DLZ. We actively promote renewable energy technology here and abroad, including research and development of minimum impact hydrokinetic technology. We also seek opportunities to restore our environment and create a new model of sustainable community development.

Daily lifestyle actions are implemented into our policies to conserve natural resources and to minimize the company’s environmental footprint. Our staff is fully engaged in building a sustainable future. We recycle in all our offices and promote a paperless business model. We also use energy and water-saving technologies and utilize LEED principles for all office renovations. In addition, at some of our offices, we utilize green infrastructure to reduce stormwater volumes and improve its discharge quality. We promote a “non-idling” practice for our large vehicle fleet.

Meet the new Executive Director: Kate Sullivan
A letter from Kate
Hi Everyone,

I have a background in logistics both domestic and international, but I currently work in IT as a Bilingual Technical Support Engineer working with major luxury retail brands.

I spent an exhilarating and fast-paced three years of my life in Tianjin, China studying Mandarin which provided endless opportunities for growth and a brand new mindset. I have now been back in the US for six years and began working as Executive Director on March 7, 2022. I could not be more honored to join such a wonderful Chamber of Commerce.

I look forward to interacting with all of you and can only hope to be half of the Executive Director that Pat McAloon was. Please do not hesitate to email me here or to

Looking forward to a great rest of 2022,

Kate Sullivan

Former Executive Director Pat McAloon Spoke on Panel at OSU

honored to speak on a panel discussing career options for foreign
language majors in the Department of East Asian Languages and
Literatures at OSU. Also on the panel were Ben Pachter, executive
director of the Japan-America Society of Central Ohio (JASCO), and
Richard Fajardo, career coach in the OSU College of Arts and Sciences
Center for Career and Professional Success.

Student attendees learned about how to achieve professional-level
ability in their respective languages, to develop that ability in a
professional domain, and to look for jobs by networking at events hosted
by organizations like the Chinese Chamber.

Chamber Attends US-China Agricultural Round Table
By Emma Hardy, Columbus Chinese Chamber Intern
On March 22, 2022, The Heartland of China Association held a roundtable discussion with some of America and China’s most prominent leaders. To name a few, Ambassador Qin Gang, Ambassador Kenneth Quinn, Senator Blayne Arthur, and Congressman Darin Lahood all attended to give their respective remarks on the state of agriculture. Both countries expressed an enthusiastic agreement to keep their agricultural partnership, and urged each other to strive to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

The roundtable was very successful; Deputy Under Secretary Jason Hafmeister reported that America had exported “$33 billion dollars last year”. This is a great increase since during trade war conditions the US only exported about $10 billion dollars. Hafmeister also reported that if China lowered their high tariffs on agricultural products and lifted other restrictions, then the US could be seen exporting $50 billion dollars just in the short-term. Additionally, Erik Fyrwald who is the CEO of Syngenta Group shared his company’s findings of creating more sustainable and effective grain. Fyrwald stated that they have developed a new kind of cow feed called Anagen. Once fed, the cow emits 10% less methane and requires 5% less feed. This new discovery is just one of many that the company is working on to beat climate change to supply the world with food, since the world will need 50% more food by 2050.

Stay tuned for next year’s roundtable discussion next March to hear about developments in this mutually beneficial agricultural relationship.
