Columbus – Columbus City Council today announced the finalists for the District 7 vacancy, following the departure of Councilmember Shayla Favor.
Nearly three dozen residents from District 7 submitted applications for the open seat. Each councilmember carefully reviewed the applications and nominated up to three finalists.
“We’re incredibly thankful to the residents of District 7 who stepped forward to serve their neighbors by applying for this important role,” says Council President Shannon Hardin. “Your willingness to engage demonstrates the strong civic spirit that makes our city great.”

The public is invited to participate in a hearing on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 5 p.m., in City Council Chambers at City Hall. During this hearing, residents will have the opportunity to share their thoughts on the finalists.
Those wishing to provide testimony must email Kevin McCain at KBMcCain@columbus.gov by 3 p.m. on the day of the hearing. Public speakers will be limited to three minutes.
Councilmembers will vote on its final selection in early 2025. The chosen appointee will take the oath of office shortly thereafter, beginning their service to District 7 and the city as a whole.
