ComFish Alaska Scheduled for April 15-17, 2025
Kodiak is gearing up for the arrival of hundreds of visitors for the annual ComFish Alaska Expo and Fisheries Forums Tuesday, April 15th through Thursday 17th at Kodiak Marketplace. ComFish is the largest and longest-running fisheries trade show in Alaska. Kodiak is home to a diverse commercial fishing fleet, with more than 700 vessels homeported at its two harbors. Kodiak consistently ranks in the top 10 U.S. fishing ports for seafood landings and value.
In its 47th year of service to the fishing industry, ComFish Alaska continues to adapt to the changing face of fisheries technology, markets, and regulatory actions. ComFish provides a unique opportunity for people to bring their goods and services directly to where people in the fishing industry live and work and serves as a one- stop shop for stakeholders to get the latest information about seafood industry issues. The Alaska Fishery Policy Forum has become the platform during which harvesters, processors, community leaders, industry members, and policy makers can discuss specific issues related to Alaska’s commercial fisheries. This year’s Forums draw state and federal authorities, community leaders, and many others together for important fisheries discussions including US Senator Lisa Murkowski, Congressman Nick Begich, ADF&G Commissioner Doug Vincent-Lang, Dr. Bob Foy, NOAA, Senator Gary Stevens, and Representative Louise Stutes.
This year, all fishery forums start at 9:45 am at the Harbor Room inside the Best Western Kodiak Inn and will also be broadcast live online. SWAMC Mariculture Director Nick Mangini will lead a panel on Mariculture, Ports & Harbors Director Dave Johnson will provide an update on the St. Herman Harbor improvements, there will be a forum on the Ocean Plastics Recovery Project, presented by Co-Founder, Andy Schroeder and more. New this year, Silver Bay Seafoods is sponsoring a seafood lunch catered by Nuniaq at the beginning of Senator Murkowski, Congressman Begich and Senator Stevens Forums. On Thursday the 17th we’ll close out the Forums with Alaska Sea Grant hosting a Fisherman’s Showcase & Reception in front of Fisherman’s Hall on Marine Way starting at 1:30.
Everything kicks off on Monday, April 14th with Fish Taco Night at Kodiak Island Brewing & Still. ComFish Alaska Expo takes place Tuesday April 15th from 2pm to 7pm, Wednesday the 16th from 11am to 6pm and on Thursday, April 17th from 11am to 4pm at the Kodiak Marketplace. On Tuesday from 5 to 6:30 ASMI will host a Fisherman’s Town Hall at Double Shovel Cidery, followed by an evening reception at the Kodiak Marketplace hosted by Cascade & Mitsubishi from 6:30 to 8 with libations and appetizers. On Wednesday Marine Electrical of Kodiak & Radar Alaska will host an evening reception from 6:00 to 7:30pm with Ciders from Double Shovel Cidery. Enjoy cider networking and enjoying the camaraderie.
