One month after announcing plans to launch two Hispanic-targeted networks in 2016, Comcast Cable on Thursday said it is accepting proposals for two African-American owned and independent networks it plans to launch in January 2019.

NBC UNIVERSO is pacing to close 2016 as the fastest growing Spanish-language entertainment cable network during Monday-Sunday primetime, up 37% year-over-year among adults 18-49 (41,000), up 38% year-over-year among adults 18-34 (22,000) and up 33% year-over-year among total viewers (69,000), according to Nielsen, marking the network's highest rated year ever since 2013.


MitĂș may be the fastest-growing digital-media brand you've never heard of. The English-language web channel, which just joined Snapchat's Discover platform, produces online videos for young Latinos, taking advantage of the rise in digital video viewing among this group.
CBS has announced the 12 participants selected for its Drama Diversity Casting Initiative. The 12 were chosen from a nationwide search from over 10,000 submissions. Out of those 10,000 submissions, there were 450 call-backs, resulting in 12 actors traveling to Los Angeles for a network screen test for CBS's current series, upcoming pilots and beyond.
La La Land - which opens Friday in limited release - is poised to steal millions of hearts with a seamless blend of artistry, music and romance that filmmakers consistently strive for. In India, that combination is the go-to recipe for filmmaking, as Hindi-language Bollywood films combine all three in major global blockbusters. 
Fox's latest drama from Empire creator Lee Daniels, Star, centers on a young white woman who flees foster care, her biracial sister, and their rich black friend who move to Atlanta to try to make it big as a girl group. Vulture sat down with Daniels to discuss what he's learned about making television over the last two years, why he's railed against the diversity debate in Hollywood, and his dream of someday doing a Disney movie. 

A first-of-its-kind study analyzes how parents contribute to their children's online media use, including social networking, watching television and video gaming.


To complement ESPN Deportes' coverage of the NBA during Christmas Day and in an effort to serve a broader Hispanic audience, ESPN2 will simulcast ESPN Deportes' Spanish-language coverage of the L.A. Clippers vs. Los Angeles Lakers as the two teams meet for the first time this season, live at 10:30 p.m. ET.
"There is a lot of dialogue these days about diversity and representation onscreen and the roles that Asian Americans are getting to play, and though I agree with the general point of the lack of representation and the stereotypes that are out there for us, I have to say that I've been lucky to have played a character like Chin Ho."
