The Helena community teems with activities this time of year. Running the gamut from races to arts festivals to rodeos and music events, Helena offers something for everyone, made possible by those who plan, execute, and volunteer to make things happen. All these activities are intended to do more than provide entertainment. They play a key role in building a sense of community. Building community is serious business at Mountain View Meadows. Building community is more than building houses--It’s about building a foundation that allows people to thrive, pursue their interests, develop skills, and give back to their community. “The people at Mountain View Meadows are the success behind community,” said Rebecca Ryland, Director of Design. “People here take pride in their homes, answer the call to help a neighbor, volunteer their time pulling weeds in parks and work behind the scenes creating community events and activities. It’s the people who make Mountain View Meadows a special place to live. We couldn’t do this without them.” The 4th of July Community Celebration is the next big happening at Mountain View Meadows. Held annually at Mountain View Park, the event is sponsored by Mountain View Meadows, LLC, Mountain View Meadows HOA, Sierra Custom Homes, Stahly Engineering and Blue Cross Blue Shield. A variety of family-oriented activities staffed by resident volunteers fill the afternoon and evening starting at 3:00 PM and ending at 10. The 4th of July Community Celebration is free and open to the general public, a way for the people at Mountain View Meadows to give back to the greater Helena community to create a better place for all to live.

Where to Live?

Want to cut down on that morning commute and enjoy closer proximity to work, schools, parks, medical facilities, shopping and entertainment? The value of a “country way of life” cannot be over stressed. If you want to ranch, farm, grow a big garden, ride horses, raise chickens or sheep, ride 4-wheelers and dirt bikes then living in the city is not for you. If you choose to live in the country, you contribute to preserving cultural diversity and lifestyle choices and help by providing land for food production and wildlife habitat.

If country life is not your style, you can still contribute to preserving cultural diversity. When you choose to live in a city, you contribute to protecting a country way of life for others while preserving more land outside the city for protecting natural resources and wildlife habitat.

Choosing to live in a city allows you the opportunity to take advantage of the resources and services that come with city living. It allows you to contribute through your tax dollars to the health, vibrancy and well-being of your community. And it provides the advantage of creating sustainable and diverse communities by protecting and preserving rural, agricultural and recreational lands that benefit the greater community. But is it right for you? Only you can tell.

1. VOUNTEERS NEEDED FOR 4TH OF JULY COMMUNITY CELEBRATION:  Come have fun with us! Volunteer to take same-day sign-ups at activities, judge contests, manage the Horsey Shoe Competition or Best of 10 Basketball Showdown. 2.  SIGN UP FOR ACTIVITIES: No matter your age, there is something for everyone at the upcoming 4th of July Community Celebration – And you don’t have to be a resident of Mountain View Meadows to participate! All activities are free and open to the public. Registration forms for the Kids Push, Pull & Pedal Parade, Basketball "Best of 10" Showdown, Chalk up the Block Sidewalk Chalk Art Event, and the friendly Horsey-Shoe Competition are available by email at [email protected] or by stopping by the MVM office at 431 S. Alice St. Last-minute registration is accepted, but it sure helps the volunteers if you sign-up in advance.

3.  HONOR YOUR LOVED ONE: Know someone you would like to honor for their service? Would you like to remember in a unique way your mother or father or anyone who brought special meaning to your life? If so, you can donate a flowering perennial or small shrub to plant in the brand-new Peace Park Memorial Gardens along with a small garden sign with a personal tribute to your loved one. For details how to donate, please email [email protected]. Plants may only be accepted on certain days and times during the planting season. Thanks for considering taking part in this ongoing community project.

4. KEEP YOUR DOG LEASHED: Too many close calls already this year between dogs and cars, pets and people and pets and pets warrant a reminder that the human on one end of the leash needs to make certain that the animal on the other end is actually secured to the leash. Animals-at-large are against the law in Helena. Please be a responsible pet owner. Your dog can’t leash itself.

5. PLEASE REMOVE OLDER MESH TREE PROTECTORS: It’s time to check the mesh tree protectors on your boulevard trees. Typically, protectors need to remain on for 2-3 years until trees are ready to withstand critters. After about 3 years, trunks may start growing into the mesh. To avoid damaging your trees, be sure to remove the mesh before that point.
