Parents, Come Meet Middle School Head Candidate Finalists

This week Roycemore will be hosting three finalists for the Middle School Head position. One is from another Chicago area school and the other two are from out of town. We encourage you to come meet the finalists and provide input to help us select the very best candidate to lead and serve our Middle School.

The two opportunities each day to meet and provide feedback:
8:30am-9:30am & 2:40pm- 3:30pm

Mon. Dec. 9- Deanna McBeath
Tues. Dec. 10- Adrienne Floro
Wed. Dec. 11- John Carpenter

Semester Exams

Some Middle School students in world language and math classes will have semester exams next week. While semester exams is a given for Upper School students, for many Middle School students, this will be some thing new. Students should communicate closely with their teachers to ensure they are prepared for exams. If parents have a concern, feel free to reach out to the teacher or advisor.

Students who are not taking exams should plan to attend regular classes. Those students who are taking an exam and missing a middle school class, will be excused from that class and the teacher will be flexible and supportive regarding any missing assignments. A couple of students have two exams on the same day. These students will not be required to attend their other classes that day. Below is the schedule:

Wed. 12/18- 8:30-10:30 am ("C" Block Finals)- Euclidean Geometry & Alg I
Wed. 12/18 11:15-1:15 pm ("F" Block Finals)-French I & Spanish I
Thurs. 12/19 8:30-10:30 am ("D" Block Finals)- Applied Geometry
Thurs. 12/19 11:15-1:15 pm ("B" Block Finals)- Spanish II, Pottery

One very important reminder about scheduling: except in the case of illness verified by a doctor, students will not be given the option to take a final exam either early or late due to absence, and a student who does not take the final as scheduled may receive a zero for that exam. We appreciate your help in making sure students are here and ready for finals, including getting enough sleep so their brain works most optimally.

What a wonderful performance by our middle school students last Friday for Winter Program. Many thanks to all of the families who came out to support the students. it was a standing room only crowd to hear our singers and watch our trumblers! Congratulations on a great show!
Many Ways to Approach Math...

In Mrs. Malkinson's Math Expressions class, the students were given a number of topics about decimals and chose one to explain using any format they wanted.
Please Participate in Toys for Tots
(deadline this FRIDAY)

Roycemore's Junior National Honor Society is sponsoring the annual Toys for Tots Drive through December 13th. This drive is organized nationally by the Marines to help those less fortunate and deliver a message of hope to children for the holidays. Students and families are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy and place it in one of the three bins around the school.
