June 4 - Today's the Day !!

My Connection to OLOC

I joined OLOC in 2014, when Elana Dykewomon invited Happy Hyder and me to develop a Plenary of Old Lesbians of Color at the National Gathering in Oakland, California.

After that Gathering, I was invited to join the National Steering Committee. I accepted because I wanted to help make the organization more inclusive and encourage more Lesbians of Color to become part of this national community.

Our Mission and Progress

OLOC brings together Lesbian Elders in a spirit of inclusiveness and visibility. We gather to preserve our herstory, confront social injustice, and give and receive support in our later years.

Ten years later, OLOC is more inclusive and more representative of Lesbians of Color, including strong leadership within our steering committee. This growth reflects a long-standing commitment to broadening participation and building a stronger national community.

Why Your Support Matters

OLOC holds national gatherings every two years. Because no Old Lesbian is turned away for lack of funds, we provide financial assistance to those who otherwise would not be able to attend.

Our next Gathering will be held in Charleston, South Carolina, from September 1–6, 2027, with the theme Growing Justice in Community.

This GIVEOUT month, I invite you to consider making a donation to help Old Lesbians attend the Gathering next year. Your support helps expand visibility, strengthen community, and ensure that more elders can take part.
