Judge Edward Ginsburg and his VLP/SPJ Legacy

With a heavy heart, we share the sad news that our beloved Judge Ginsburg, founder of Senior Partners for Justice, passed away on June 24th at 90. He inspired us all, and his death is a tremendous loss for us, the people we serve, and the access to justice community. Thanks to his efforts, since 2002, Senior Partners for Justice provided legal help to thousands of people who couldn't afford a lawyer and otherwise would have been on their own. From his sharp intellect, boundless energy, and commitment to justice to his intuitive kindness, mischievousness, and love of the Red Sox, Judge Ginsberg and his very essence will be deeply missed. VLP remembers Judge Ginsberg as he spoke about his life's work, ensuring access to justice for all, and where his inspiration stemmed in this 2014 American Bar Association video interview.

Goodwin Pro Bono Attorney Case Win

"I’ve been a lawyer for two years now and this [case] is 100% the highlight, and could possibly be for many more (possibly forever). Thank you for trusting me with this case and for your guidance and mentorship along the way.” Collin Grier, Esq.

Congratulations, Attorney Collin Grier and the rest of the Goodwin team, on a recent case win. After a hard-fought win in the Appeals Court, on remand, the Housing Court ruled in favor of the Client by denying possession to the ex-partner/Landlord because “in all of the circumstances of this case, the landlord holds the premises as the constructive trustee for the benefit of the tenant.” The Housing Court Judge could have taken the easy route and dismissed the case based on Notice to Quit issues, forcing the parties to start over. Instead, the Judge granted our Client full relief, which will allow the Client and her family to reclaim the equity in the home that the ex-partner/Landlord promised them. Thank you, Collin and the Goodwin Appeals team, for your commitment and support during the Appeal and the remand. Keep up the good fight!
