🔑PASSING THE KEYS - FAMILY EDITION

The Cinco Charities Board of Directors would like to announce the retirement of their current Executive Director of The Ballard House, Dave Brown, on December 31, 2026. Though it will be hard to see Dave leave, the board is excited for Dave’s next chapter, enjoying his retirement with his family and three grandchildren. Cinco Charities cannot thank Dave enough for his 11 years of hard work, passion and dedication to The Ballard House as a board member and Executive Director and we will wish him all the best at the end of the year.

The Board is also thrilled to announce their next Executive Director of the Ballard House, Aaron Sturgeon (pictured above to the left of Dave). Aaron will begin working with Dave and the current Board of Directors on October 1, 2026 to ensure a smooth transition. Aaron comes to The Ballard House with an amazing non-profit background combined with corporate experience. Aaron and his family live in Katy and is extremely excited to being able to give back and serve his community at The Ballard House.

🏡 FROM OUR HOUSE

Resident/guest story

Louise R. and Jesse Gonzales

"I wanted to take a moment to send a heartfelt thank you for the wonderful grab & go lunches you've been providing. Honestly, they've been an absolute lifesaver for us!

Our commute back & forth from Houston three times a week is quite a marathon, and it really takes a lot out of us. We're usually out the doors by 9am and don't get back till around 5pm making for some long exhausting days.

Trying to sort out lunch during those busy stretches used to be a major hassle and just added stress. Having those convenient, pre-prepared meals ready for us has lifted such a huge burden off our shoulders.

We're incredibly grateful for your thoughtfulness and support.

Thank you so, so much for everything. God bless you all."

Volunteer Spotlight

"I’m grateful to be part of this tight-knit community and to contribute to its incredible work each week. I’ve been a Night Owl volunteer for over two years, and it has been nothing short of a fun and fulfilling experience. After graduating from college, I was looking for a meaningful way to give back to the community, and I found exactly that at the Ballard House.

My conversations with guests have given me valuable perspectives and, if there is one big takeaway I’ve gained from my time here, it is the importance of staying optimistic and spreading positivity. When things don’t go as planned, it can be difficult to maintain that optimism, but being part of a community filled with compassionate guests, staff, and volunteers makes all the difference. We have the opportunity to inspire one another and spread positivity, playing an important role in making everyone here feel supported and welcomed.

The warm conversations and words of encouragement I’ve exchanged with guests and volunteers have personally helped me get through dull days. I’m truly grateful to everyone at the Ballard House for creating such a welcoming and uplifting community, and I’m thankful to be a part of it."

Thank you Movement Mortgage for coming to serve, tour, and give a generous donation!

The Keller Williams Premier Katy Labor Day 5K took place on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the Villagio Town Center in Cinco Ranch. This event benefited The Ballard House and Ainsley's Angels. There were 492 runners and walkers this year. Thank you to Katy Area Running Club for organizing this event and to all the sponsors that made this possible! See you next year!

From June 19th - August 25th, TBH partnered with The Funds2Orgs Group to collect shoes to recycle. Our community showed up for us in a huge way. We collected 5,206 pairs of shoes! Thank you to everyone who donated and took the time to sort through the piles of shoes. What a great outcome!
