Community Church has long opened our doors to share space with other organizations. Our church believes in giving back to the community, and we are proud to provide a safe and welcoming environment for other organizations to hold their events and meetings.

This initiative will benefit the organizations and also help build stronger relationships within the community. We look forward to continuing to serve our community in new and innovative ways.

As we gather in fellowship this February, we are filled with gratitude and anticipation to honor Black History Month. Throughout this significant month, we will unite to recognize the invaluable contributions and enduring legacy of Black individuals in shaping our world and our faith.

During our upcoming services and events, we invite you to join us in reflecting on the rich tapestry of Black history, from the profound spiritual leadership to the unwavering commitment to justice and equality. It is our shared responsibility to acknowledge and celebrate the diversity of experiences and perspectives that have enriched our church community and our collective journey of faith.

Together, let us embrace this opportunity to deepen our understanding, nurture empathy, and reaffirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all members of our congregation. Our shared exploration of Black history can serve as a catalyst for unity, compassion, and growth within our church family.

Join us for our upcoming four-Sunday Adult Education series, "Life Together: On Kindness & Community."

In this enriching series, we'll delve into the why and how of being a community. Together, we'll explore how building a community can strengthen our connections, foster empathy, and create a more compassionate world.

Beginning this Sunday, we will meet in the parlor from 11:30 -12:30 following worship and coffee. This week our topic is "Why Community & What Is Community?"

On The Spiritual Journey: Rocks and Roots

“finding a path through the wilderness”: a sermon and four sessions

Join us as we explore of what it means to grow spiritually. We seek spiritual growth in order to sustain our faith and practice in our daily walk. Using the metaphor of “wilderness,” we will read and reflect on passages from scripture, poets, theologians, and mystics. As we discover both personal and corporate pathways through “wilderness” both real and metaphorically, we will share questions and seek wisdom about those things challenging us as persons,

communities and as the church.

Our format begins with the sermon on February 25: Rocks and Roots: “Let’s Talk about the Walk”. We will follow that sermon with four zoom sessions. Each one will continue to explore themes introduced through the sermon.

Faithful Reflections: Excerpts from Scripture

Isaiah 41:10 reads, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." In these words, we find unwavering reassurance and divine promise.

The verse begins with a clear directive: "Do not fear." This command is a reminder that no matter the challenges we face, we are not alone. The presence of God is constant, and His unfailing support is our source of strength. As believers, we can find comfort in the knowledge that as we walk through life's trials, God is walking alongside us. His unwavering presence dispels fear and instills courage.

The promise to uphold us with His righteous right hand is nothing short of a divine guarantee of protection and guidance. In the face of adversity, we can rely on God to firmly uphold us and lead us through the storms of life. His righteous hand serves as a beacon of hope, guiding us toward the path of righteousness and steadfastness.

As we ponder the depth of Isaiah 41:10, let us take this powerful verse to heart. It is a testament to the unwavering love and support that God offers to Us . May we draw strength and solace from these words, knowing that we are never alone and that our faith in God sustains us through all circumstances.

Let us carry the message of Isaiah 41:10 in our hearts, allowing its profound truths to permeate our lives and inspire us to face each day with unwavering faith and courage.

February 10th

We are excited to announce the launch of the Children's Prayer-Ground at the back of our sanctuary!

We understand that attending religious services with young children can sometimes be challenging, as they may become restless and need a space of their own. That's why we have created a special area in the back of the sanctuary just for them.

The Children's Prayer-Ground offers a safe and welcoming environment for children to play and explore while still allowing their parents or guardians to follow the service.

Join American Baptist Women of RI Saturday, March 16 at the Norwood Baptist Church in Warwick for our annual spiritual retreat. Rev. Dr. Reppa Cottrell and Donna Sherman will be leading the bible study and reflection in the morning and the afternoon will include workshops and time to share. The $20.00 fee includes lunch.  Registration deadline is March 2. 

Here at The Community Church of Providence we encourage children to be an active part of worship! Sunday school for children is held during service. If you're looking for a fun and engaging way to get your kids involved in church activities, Sunday School is the perfect place to start. Join us Sunday and see what your child can create!
