Is your Achilles heel a weakness for cute dogs? Achilles could be the perfect fit for you! Achilles has been out with other dogs here at HSC and did well; he does best with younger dogs who can match his energy level. Achilles' favorite activity is chasing tennis balls and going for jogs, so his ideal home would be with someone who can keep up with him. If you're looking to add an active and eager-to-learn dog to your family, visit Achilles today at HSC.

HSC Launches a NEW Program: Working Cats

HSC Working Cats is a new program to help cats not suited to indoor life find "employment" and new homes.

Some  Community Cats, once spayed/neutered through our TNR program, cannot be returned to the outdoor environment they called home due to varying circumstances. To help these cats find a permanent home, HSC has launched "Working Cats".

Working Cats are usually accustomed to an outdoor life and un-socialized to humans. They are not suited to be indoor pet companions. These cats are often called "stray" or "feral" and avoid the touch of human hands. These cats often hunt snakes, rats, or mice, making them an excellent form of natural rodent control.

Those interested in having a cat help keep everything "business as usual" can adopt a spayed/neutered working cat. All HSC Working Cats are vaccinated against rabies, microchipped, and in need of a new outdoor home.

Did we mention that Working Cat adoptions are also free?

Examples of suitable outdoor homes for Working Cats are:
  • Barns
  • Garages
  • Warehouses
  • Yards with suitable shelters

Pet Food Bank: Volunteer to Help Us, Help Them

The Humane Society of Charlotte recognizes that many families temporarily face difficult financial times and may require assistance in caring for their pets.

Our Pet Food Bank is intended to help families facing those short-term difficulties.

We are also community partners with our friends at  Meals on Wheels in Mecklenburg County , and are working to be sure that  all seniors that are pet owners and clients of that program  receive much needed dog/cat food for their furry family members.

Are you an individual or company that is interested in helping us restock our Pet Food Bank? We could certainly use your help.
