Getting to know the people behind Museum of Vancouver!
Linda Lidstone, Visitor Experience
Linda has been working at MOV for 15 years now. As a member of the Visitor Experience team, she is typically one of the first friendly faces that the public interacts with when visiting MOV. Her welcoming disposition, infectious positivity, and sincere knowledge of MOV’s exhibitions, programing, and vision, all become undeniably apparent as soon as you walk through the entrance doors to MOV.
“I walked into the museum by chance and fell in love during that first visit. I wandered into the gift shop and inquired if they needed any help. 15 years have flown by and now I work on a weekly basis at the front desk. I love being able to walk to work, see the ocean, and interact with so many different people from all over the world, most of whom tell me how much they love Vancouver. How lucky am I?!”

Unbuilding Exhibitions: harnessing the potential of deconstruction
Museums professionals are a resourceful and thrifty bunch when it comes to saving money and conserving materials for building exhibitions. Staff in small to mid-size museums, especially, have become experts at repurposing display units. Recently the listservs of several provincial museum associations, too, have become powerful platforms for passing along, exchanging or salvaging exhibition props and display units among museum colleagues.
