Friends and Supporters,

On Wednesday night, our transit agency, the Greater Richmond Transit Company (GRTC), will be presenting their options for a new north/south bus rapid transit route from Henrico thru Richmond to Chesterfield! Bus rapid transit (BRT), like the Pulse, provides more frequent, reliable transit and better access to jobs and other important destinations.

The northern portion will go along Chamberlayne Ave in Henrico and into Richmond. Multiple options are being considered for a route through downtown Richmond and into Southside/Chesterfield.

Join us at GRTC’s open house tomorrow, July 26 from 5:30-7:30 (with a presentation at 6 pm) at Main Street Station to present the different options and share your input. We need more modern transit in the Richmond region, and more options to get around without having to use a car!

Meeting Information

Some things to consider as you look at the different potential routes:

  • Does this route connect people to jobs and essential services, such as grocery stores, libraries, health centers, and banks?
  • How will people be able to access the new bus stops? Will it be safe for people walking and biking to and from bus stops?
  • Which route has the most potential for revitalization and redevelopment to become more transit-oriented in the future, while preserving affordable housing?
  • Which route in the city will provide the best interconnection to the Pulse and other GRTC routes?

We hope to see you there tomorrow night! We also encourage you to try out the bus to get there, there are bus stops at Main & 17th (Route 14) and Main Street Station (Pulse). You can find more information on GRTC routes here
