Happy Birthday Ogunquit!
Ogunquit officially separated from Wells and became its own town on July 1st, 1980!
Announced by Governor Mills at today's 2pm press conference!

Residents of Connecticut, New York and New Jersey can now visit Maine, beginning this Friday, July 3, without any testing or quarantine requirements. Residents of New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine have been exempt since mid June.

If you are not a resident of Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Maine, New Hampshire or Vermont, you must complete a  Certificate of Compliance form  indicating that you have received a negative COVID-19 test result no longer than 72 hours prior to your arrival,  or  that you will quarantine in Maine for 14 days (or the length of your stay, whichever is shorter),  or  that you have already completed your quarantine in Maine.

York Hospital's drive-through testing facility is just seven miles from Ogunquit and its new rapid testing site can provide results in 15 minutes; more details below.

If the positivity rate in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and other states drops so that it is closer in line with those in the exempt states, Governor Mills' administration will review the data and may add other states to the exempt list, so stay tuned. We will let you know asap!
What will be open when I get to Ogunquit?
Restaurants  are open for outdoor and inside dining, using state-approved safety protocols and social distancing; many are continuing to also offer take-out, curbside and/or delivery. To make guests more comfortable, most of our restaurants now offer an outdoor dining option. Some may require reservations.

Retail stores  are open, also using state-approved safety protocols and social distancing.

Beaches  are open, with social distancing requirements.  Click Here  to view the beach safety rules.

Marginal Way  is open. Masks are required, since many sections of our famed cliff walk are less than six feet wide, so it's difficult to maintain proper social distancing. The town does not sanitize handrails or benches, so it's a good idea to bring your hand sanitizer along for the walk. Also, please carry in & carry out!

Lodging properties  are open for guests from anywhere.

There are no restrictions (e.g., no quarantine or testing requirements) for New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont residents.

If you are not a resident of one of these states, you must complete a  Certificate of Compliance form  indicating that you have received a negative COVID-19 test result no longer than 72 hours prior to your arrival,  or  that you will quarantine in Maine for 14 days (or the length of your stay, whichever is shorter),  or  that you have already completed your quarantine in Maine.

You can also get tested in Maine when you arrive, but must quarantine until the results are available. Under quarantine, you can enjoy outdoor exercise, including the beaches, provided that you can safely distance from others; you cannot dine out or shop until your quarantine period is over, but you can have food delivered to your lodging establishment.

If you plan to test after you arrive in the Ogunquit area, the current local testing site is  York Hospital's drive-through testing facility  on Route 1 in York; here is a link to their FAQ page for more information. They are a rapid testing site and can provide results for you in 15 minutes. Please visit their website to schedule your visit; there are no walk-in's accepted. The facility is open seven days/week.

There are supposed to be additional testing facilities opening in Ogunquit and/or Wells in early July.

We hope that these requirements will become less restrictive soon, and will be sure to update you as soon as new information becomes available!
What can we do once we get to Ogunquit?
One of the best parts of a getaway in Ogunquit is the wide variety of healthy outdoor activity the area offers, along with award-winning cuisine & cocktails, and local, independent shopping. Oh, and yes, there's the incredibly beautiful views enjoyed from our beaches, Marginal Way, and protected forestland. Come explore Ogunquit and the surrounding area - it's high time, it's summer!
The southern coast of Maine is renowned for its white sandy beaches, and Ogunquit proudly boasts the most accessible and stunning beach in the area. Three miles of wide sandy beach stretch from Main Beach, near the center of town, to Footbridge Beach and North Beach. Come relax and dip your toes in the water.
This famed, paved cliff walk meanders for a little over one mile along the ocean, from Perkins Cove to Shore Road right near downtown. Benches are available in many spots to take a rest, take a photo, or just breathe in the salt air and enjoy the crashing surf!

As a way to encourage all Ogunquit-area businesses to open safely, and encourage guests and residents to act responsibly, the Ogunquit Chamber has created the "Ogunquit Together" initiative. The initiative welcomes our visitors and reminds everyone (visitors, businesses and residents) that it is in behaving in a manner that is courteous and respectful to others that we can continue to reopen throughout this summer and ensure access to our amazing natural resources and inviting business community.

In order to sign on to the initiative, our businesses must confirm their intentions to do the following:
  • Open and operate according to the most recently updated State of Maine safe reopening guidelines for their business category.
  • Encourage safe social distancing (six feet +).
  • Encourage guests to wear cloth face coverings when social distancing is not possible (per Governor Mills' executive order).
