Dear Friends,

There is so much new at the 2019 Dressage at Devon.

For a start, "Ladies Hat Day" has become "Hat Day" at Dressage at Devon and will take place Friday at 6 pm (a change from previous years). The event will include very special prizes for the Best Ladies Hat, the Best Dressed Man and the Best Dressed Family. Then, following the contest is a party! See the invitation below and plan to join us.

The mission of Dressage at Devon has always been to help educate riders, owners, trainers and those who just care about the sport. Towards this mission, Saturday we have two speakers who will address the questions and concerns of adults. Details on each presentation are below.

During the breaks, take a stroll around the grounds, visit the returning and new shops and have a bite to eat before you settle down for the Saturday night Grand Prix - under the Devon lights.

Sunday is Dressage Explorers for the younger set (or young at heart) with the Stick Horse Contest, the selfie scavenger hunt, the Princess and the Unicorn, and a Meet n' Greet with the vaulters.

Also, participants will have the very special opportunity to watching classes with Lendon Gray, founder of Dressage4Kids . Participants will get to hear her take on the great junior performances.

Don't forget a stop (or 2) at the gift shop where, in addition to great home items and apparel, we are pleased to offer Lessons with Lendon! by Lendon Gray and "Collective Remarks: a journey through the American dressage evolution: where it's been, where we are, and where we need to be" by DaD Board Member Anne Gribbons.

We'll keep you up to date about other highlights but, there's no question, it's going to be a great show. See you there!

Warmly,
Lori Kaminski

At 10:30, Lisa Schmid t, creator of Adult Amateur Dressage Access (www.aadressageaccess.com) returns to facilitate a discussion targeted to Adult Amateurs. She will be there to answer questions and present the challenges faced by adult amateurs in the current - and future - dressage environment.

New at Dressage Explorers

Lendon Gray , founder of Dressage4Kids will join the Explorers in the afternoon to watch top junior rider classes and answer questions about the rides, the riders and the horses, helping Explorers understand what goes into a winning ride.

Jessica Fay , Assistant Trainer at Hill Top Farm, will talk to Explorers about her career in dressage: How she got her start, her education, her training, her riding, her job as a working student and her future in dressage.

Silent Auction

More than 50 items will be on display for the new Silent Auction. Featured is an original oil painting by local artist, William Ewing, in a custom frame hand carved by his wife Mary! Come see this equestrian themed masterpiece for yourself!

Equestrian Gymnastics:
Vaulting

For more than 2,000 years, people have been performing equestrian vaulting or dance-like movements on or over the backs of moving
horses. Some people trace the origins of vaulting to the ancient Roman games where acrobats would demonstrate their skills on cantering horses. Others trace the history of vaulting to ancient Crete where bull-leaping was prevalent!

Whatever its roots, modern vaulting is fun and exciting. This year, Fleur de Lis Vaulters from Kentucky will perform in the Dixon Oval during the breaks on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Don’t miss it!
