The Charleston County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) is an unprecedented collaboration of elected and senior officials, law enforcement leaders, judicial and court leadership, behavioral health professionals, victim and legal advocates, and community leaders working together to make sustainable data-guided improvements to the local criminal justice system. As the first CJCC in the state of South Carolina, the CJCC is committed to improving public safety, justice and community well-being.
The CJCC is actively implementing a comprehensive transformation plan developed through an exhaustive effort to:
- Analyze data from across the local criminal justice system
- Study racial and ethnic disproportionality and/or disparity
- Assess jail use, and
- Review successful practices in other jurisdictions.
