Avenue Q

Mostly The Moment Theatre Company is thrilled to present the 3rd show in its inaugural season, the premiere regional production of Avenue Q.  Winner of Broadway's "Triple Crown" Tony Awards - Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Score - this smart, sassy, and touching musical, ranking as one of Broadway's longest running shows, brings together colorful and quirky characters, both human and puppet, to play out the difficulties in adjusting to early adult life. The characters are a broad sampling of New York City outer borough denizens, mostly young people and nearly a dozen puppets with people-like problems.

Trying to make sense of life's issues, Princeton - a wide-eyed, recent college grad - bumbles through life, distracted momentarily by Lucy The Slut, but making friends and realizing fundamental truths about life... Truths such as "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist" and "The Internet is for Porn". The show is hilariously funny, a bit rude, and perfect for anyone who has ever wondered how you are meant to pay the bills with a BA in English.

Directed and choreographed by Kyle Peters, it is the perfect way to kick-start the summer season. "We're extremely excited to finally get this show off the ground and show audiences how much fun you can have with a dozen politically incorrect puppets and some incredibly infectious music." Peters admits that this show is much like "Sesame Street for adults" and hopes that people take it for what it is - a fun show with relatable, albeit at times risqu, humour. "This show really will keep you in stitches," continues Peters. "Even if you're not a fan of musicals, you will leave the theatre having had a really good laugh."

Avenue Q features a cast of talented local actors including Charles MacTavish (Princeton), Jen McVicar (Kate), Jill Scaplen (Lucy The Slut), Adam Masson (Trekkie Monster), Frances Kwan (Christmas Eve), Joel Howe (Nicky), Jessica Bourque (Mrs. T), Megan Bonnell (Gary Coleman), Kelly Lamrock (Brian), Jeffery Brown (Rod), Kayla-Rene Ossachuk and Jordan DuBois (Bad Idea Bears), and a chorus of Avenue Q "kids" who fill out the show along the way.

Before school is out and the summer season is in full swing, why not take some time to see what life is like on Avenue Q? You just might be surprised at what you'll see...
